Get up, pack it in, let me begin

jump jump jump!

You know how when you get a group of friends together and the only logical next idea for a picture is to jump? that happened to Amber and I about every single day she was here.

Only problem is... I legitimately cannot jump. Ask Lee.
Stephanie may have said something like "is that really the best you can do?!" hahaha coming from the gymnast who can still do a perfect toe touch a million knee surgeries later!

Jump! on the on the front back!

Last week the SOs were busy traipsing around Grenada.  We went to a few of my favorite places, with a few of my favorite people, it was a good week.

La Sagesse Beach never disappoints. It is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I've ever been.  I need to squeeze in about 10 more trips there before we leave.
We spent the morning lounging around, scouring the beach for shells and other things (cricket bat anyone?) and ended the afternoon with some impromptu jumping and silliness.

A few of the lovely SOs there that day.
I am so thankful for the SO organization and all these great women here in Grenada!!

ps. 69 days left.
AND if you don't already know... you can read all about Lee and I's love story over at Newlyweds Bliss today! :)

74 days

no time to blog I'm  too busy having an amazing time.

Today was one of my favorite days in Grenada so far.
La Sagesse Beach - and awesome beach finds
Limes Birthday Party
Meeting my friends' new baby boy
Girls night -complete with amazing food, games, and 13 awesome girls

This is all of the update that I have, I just didn't want to forget how happy I am in this moment and how amazing Grenada truly has been to me.

On a sadder note Lee was gone to school before I woke up today and he was asleep when I got home.
How terrible is it that one of my funnest days in Grenada was a day that I didn't even see or communicate with my husband once? :/

update update

Lee and I have been doing so much fun stuff I haven't been able to keep this blog updated!!

I don't have pictures but we went to the most amazing place called Flamingo Bay.  It is located at Happy Hill, just about 15minutes past St. Georges & it has the BEST snorkeling!!
Thank you Kensi for the tip!! It was awesome!
Unfortunately that was the day my underwater camera decided not to work.  but I can tell you that it was beautiful.
Huge sea fans, tons of colorful tropical fish, squids, so much life.
And the best part is when you swim out kinda far there is this huge drop off and a rock wall with stuff growing all over it.
Afterwards Lee and Stan decided to go find the underwater sculpture park which is located a bay (or 2) over, while Natasha and I hung out on the beach... they came back completely worn out and having only seen 1 sculpture, so we're planning a trip back soon!

We've also had a few more sunset swims, beach walks, and long days relaxing at home watching movies.
It's been an incredible summer so far.

I finally got Lee up to La Sagesse last week too!  It is SO beautiful there!

Now I can move onto our mini-vacation to Carriacou and the Tobago Cays!! It was INCREDIBLE!

Kayaking at La Sagess

this week some friends and I went up to La Sagesse Beach for the morning/afternoon.
It is such a beautiful beach, I've blogged about it a couple times before...
but this was the first time I went kayaking there, and it was an experience! ha!

our mistake was me, Vanessa, and Megan all got into 1 kayak.  It was built for 3 people, but it was insanely unbalanced. we weren't even off the beach before we flipped over, and luckily we did, it was our practice run.
we get out (way too far into the ocean for my comfort actually) and my entire body was clenched trying to balance this boat against the coming waves and we flipped again!! ah!!!
Megan and I were terrified of sharks!  there aren't really sharks in Grenada, but if there were they would be on the Atlantic side of the island, where we were!
we scrambled to flip it over and climb back in (no easy feat) the kayak and our other friends Ashley and Emily paddled over and I climbed into their boat because their's seemed more stable, and it was 100x better.

overall it was beautiful ride and the waves are really fun when your boat isn't flipping over :)

While Mom was visiting we went to La Sagesse with the SOs.  It was my 2nd time there and even more gorgeous than it was the first time.  read about the 1st time here
I can't wait to take Lee there this summer when he has a break.

100th Post!!!!

I cannot believe it's already been 100 posts!!!
and in honor of the event I am giving away a prize to everyone who reads this -
a free floor to sleep on if you ever visit Grenada!!!!
congratulations!!!
I would probably even buy you an air mattress!!!
flights are cheap in January :)

Yesterday was on of those "top 10 days" as my Dad would say....(I miss him & his weird little sayings btw)
It was a perfect day. perfect weather. perfect company.

The SOs went up to La Sagesse (pronounced La Sa-jess) to the beach and it was the most beautiful, secluded little cove with palm trees providing shade.  The water was warm with just the right amount of waves.  A lot of the time I feel like the water here is too calm.  I like to bob up and down with the waves every once in a while.
I would guess about 20 some SOs went and it was a lot of fun.

the only not fun part was feeling car sick and being late getting home and having to literally run around the house to get to Limes on time... but it was worth it & we ended up having a great day at Limes.  I just love those children so much.. I wish there was more I could do to help them and I am  going to be so so so so sad to leave them next year... I hope they all stay on the right track and make something of themselves!! ah if only I could take them all home with me.  Yesterday we had 40 kids come, that is the biggest group we've had so far this term.
We talked about littering and what it meant and why it is wrong... and then I divided them up into 4 teams and we had a competition to see who could find the most trash.
I was surprised how much the kids got involved and enjoyed this!  Today they wanted to pick up more trash and clear the rocks out of the way!! Hopefully we can instill in them that it is wrong to litter and Grenada is too beautiful of a country to just ruin!!! There is also the issue of no recycling here what-so-ever, but that is a whole different story....
We collected 7 grocery sacks FULL of trash from the field we play in (about the size of a soccer field) ridiculous!!  We awarded the kids with a couple M&Ms each and it was so funny b/c NONE of them knew what M&Ms were! they didn't' want them until I explained it was chocolate. lol.
This term we are partnering with Women in Medicine to do a special series 2 times a month for the girls of Limes to talk about girl issues and what it means to be a girl and respecting yourself.  I'm really excited!  So 3 of the girls from WIM came out to Limes yesterday to see how it works and get a feel for the kids and one of them was so kind to offer their M&Ms as a prize (so thank you!!)
After the trash clean up Mr. Alfonso played a game of kickball with the kids while I made the sandwiches for snack b/c I had ran out of time because I went to the beach.  I was sitting on the ground, barefoot (b/c they were using my shoes as bases for kickball) making corned beef (barf) sandwiches on a cinder block...... hahaha if you had told me that I would ever be doing such a thing I wouldn't have believed you.
Snack is one of the most important parts of Limes, to me anyway, you can just tell that a lot of these kids are just so hungry!! and they love corned beef! craziness. luckily yesterday I bought two loaves of bread so there was plenty of snack for everyone who showed up!
The winners of the competition!! They were a little excited :)

I wish every single SO would come out to Limes at least once while they are here and experience an afternoon with these kids and the need there is for help and just get to have fun and play!!
Try it, you'll like it! :)
