visit to the great white north

last weekend I went to visit my Lee!!

he decided to move his USMLE exam back about 2 weeks and is now taking it on March 12th... and I decided there was no way I could go two weeks MORE without seeing my husband and that he could use a small break from the studying :)

his hair is longer, his muscles bigger (push ups apparently are his normal study break), and his brain is crammed with even more knowledge... but other than that he is still the same husband as he was when he left on January 3rd.

the one and only picture we took that weekend..... and not exactly one of our best.
a hair cut is in order as soon as this crazy exam is over.

I did get a picture of myself out in the snow though to prove that I actually was in Canada.
It snowed SO much...

It seriously looked like this when we left Canada and like this when we got to Ohio, notice we aren't even wearing coats!

My Mom made the 10hour trip with me :) and when we stopped for dinner (at a delicious Amish buffet) we saw this guy and needed our picture with him... I think he's actually smiling at the camera!

Also, I want to share this video with you, my sweet husband wrote this song for me for Valentine's Day and sent it to me!  and then I went to see him and got to hear it live.  I am one lucky lady!

P.S. Hi Stephanie :)

ticket home

Lee bought our tickets back to North America for good last night...
and I am having mixed feelings.

Part of me is digging my nails into the sand refusing to ever leave this amazing island...
and part of me is secretly happy to be going back to real life.  I could actually have a job!

Actually I won't be happy about "real life" until about Apirl or May when Lee gets his clinical placement and we find out where we'll be living for the next 2 years... until then it's back to limbo and living with my parents and Lee studying like CRAZY for the USMLE Step 1.
ugh.

AND we just realized that we bought the tickets to go back to Canada to spend a week with Lee's family before we head to Ohio for Christmas and New Years and.... 4 months or whatever.....
AND we don't have ANY winter clothing there. not a coat, a glove, a boot. anything. hahahahahaha.
can you even believe my life?
Lee decided all of this, I'm just along for the ride... in Canada in December with my flip flops and sundresses.
Lee does have sisters, so hopefully there will be a coat somewhere in the house I can borrow, and I have 1 pair of jeans, 1 long sleeved shirt, and 1 pair of tennis shoes here in Grenada.
all of our belongings and clothing is in Ohio!
woe is me.

Independence Day Beach Picnic

We celebrated the 4th of July a little early and Canada Day a little late. mostly because it was a Saturday, a day that works for most people, and I'm so glad we did!  The weather was perfect!!
I posted a lot of the little detail pictures over at Kelsey Inspired so be sure to check that out too :)

Our new friends in Grenada & our old friends Stan and Natasha & baby Caleb :)

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!

Canadian Summer

we're got to to do some pretty fun stuff on Lee's day offs.... which have been very few and far between.... and Lee is working up until the day before we leave and when we get back to Grenada he will already be 2 days behind so the minute we get to our apartment he is going to have to start studying to catch up for the day before!
you would think that after 5 years of being together I would be used to his work-aholic-ness... but I still want to be with him every second and get so annoyed when he works 12 hrs a day, 6 days a week.... right now he's working 11 days straight! ugh.

aaaaaanyway.
Lee's parents have a trailer up on a lake about and hour north of here and we went up and spent the night.

We went to Wasaga Beach another day.  It is the longest freshwater beach in the world! 8.7 miles long.  But it was completely freezing and we were nearly miserable. haha... but we stayed because we drove an hour to get there!  We ended up buying a sweatshirt for me to wear...
just being silly... we said this is the way canadians go to the beach, haha

Another day we went to Wonerland... the amusement park where Lee works (it's like Kings Island or Cedar Point) and we made ourselves completely sick on rides. and I got cut by my ear ring and made my head bleed.... but it was fun. haha.

I finally got to ride Behemoth, it has an 85 degree incline hill..... it was awesome, but made me want to puke.
& that's the water park Lee is the manager of behind it!  This is his 6th summer working there!

and in 2 weeks 3 of my friends from home are coming up to visit!! I'm so excited!

Canadian Quickie

Today is Victoria Day, a holiday recognized in most of Canada (but not in the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Price Edward Island....? and in Quebec they celebrate National Patriot's Day today)  It's celebrated on the last Monday before May 24th (the weekend before Memorial Day)  It was created to celebrate Queen Victoria's Birthday & now it's to celebrate the current reigning Queen or whatever's birthday.  So I guess it's kinda like President's Day in the US... but it's also kind of like Memorial Day because it marks the start of Summer (although it's not summer by any stretch...) But people start planting flowers because hopefully it won't frost anymore (did I mention it snowed here on Mother's Day? like covered the ground white... eesh)  and go to their cottages and Wonderland (where Lee works is open, although the water-park doesn't open until June)  It's also called May Long Weekend.
Interesting to note that in the UK the Queen's Birthday is celebrated in June...

So there it is.  Happy Victoria Day!

Ooooooooh Canada.

we've been here 4 days..... and only 11 weeks until we go back to Grenada!!!

things have been going well... I've gotten my shopping fix with $2.50 tank tops from Forever21 in a rainbow of colors & this morning at Old Navy's $1 flip flop sale!!
I've also bought 2 magazines. I missed magazines so much!!!
and sour gummy worms & Doritos.

but now I'm done with shopping. I'm ready to go see my parents & family & then go home....... to Grenada!
I'm surprised by how cold I am.... we're staying in the basement & it's freezing! It's warm outside during the day, when you're standing in the sun, otherwise I wear a sweater.
Lee's dad is working on the pool today to have it open soon, but I can't imagine swimming in it, it will be so cold!! but it will look nice & I can spend my afternoons sitting around it in the sun, pretending I'm at the University Club. lol.

Lee has worked every single day since we've been here and will up until Friday when we leave for my parents... I'm staying home for 2 weeks, but Lee will only be there for 4 days & I dread the thought of being apart!!! haha today is our 9 month wedding anniversary :) luckily he gets off at 5 today!! yay Saturday night with nothing to do!

Yesterday I signed up with this website called canadiannanny.com so maybe I'll get some babysitting jobs... something to do with my time!  TV during the day suuuuuucks.

I think I'm going to start blogging about all the "Canadian" things I see & experience........ such as milk in a bag.......and for some reason the past 2 days I've gotten lucky enough to have to change the bag. it's weird.
I'll take pictures sometime.

time is short

I only have 12 more days in Grenada before we leave for Canada....
I hope time stands still. I don't want to leave.
This term flew by way too fast!
This is how it's going to be in a year and half when we have to leave forever......... especially because we'll have 6 months before we start the clinical rotations.... more living with family! probably in Ohio with my family though... it depends, on my job & if Lee can study there well.  He'll be spending the entire 6 months studying for the Step 1 of the USMLE (United States Medical Licensure Exam) the most important exam of his life apparently, it makes a difference in what residency he gets... and then if he decided/gets to go back to Canada he'll have to take a different exam! ggeeesh.

But I am very very excited to think about our life beyond Grenada, our life hopefully in NYC!
I am slowly convincing Lee that NYC is where we should go!! I want to live there so bad!  or New Jersey, I'm ok with Jersey, as long as we can easily get to the city..... because we more than likely won't have a car, unless I get some awesome job because by the time we're finished in Grenada the money will be sparse. and we still have to pay tuition while he's in clinicals.... and NYC will be just as expensive as Grenada, if not more.

I am rambling.

I am excited about the next 12 days though, I am cramming in as much beach/fun time as possible with my friends...
This summer I'm not really going to have friends.  I'll be in another strange place & Lee will be almost as busy working & studying... except there won't be an SO group to make friends with & I can't work there either...... I plan on running a lot and probably walking around town exploring and going to the mall to window shop & not buy. at least Lee's parents have a pool... if it's warm enough to get in it.

I am going home-home very soon!  less than 4 weeks!! and I'm planning on staying for 2 weeks, or until I miss Lee too much, if I can stay longer I will. We haven't spent a night apart since we've been married, almost 9 months! I've forgotten what it would be like to sleep alone, kinda.

ok more rambling....
I will have good updates soon, tomorrow is another snorkel / bonfire day! and today I went diving for sea urchin skeletons! so fun stuff :)
