Carriacou Day 3!

On our 3rd and final day on the lovely island of Carriacou we had plans of spending it on Paradise Beach, but our friend Stan was able to haggle an awesome deal for a guy with a boat to take us to Sandy Island, a little spit of sand close to the shore of Paradise beach.
We had been hearing about the great snorkeling there and I think we had all caught the snorkeling bug by this point and were wanting to see more more more.
It was SO worth the money to go.  It is the most beautiful little island and the snorkeling was great!  We even saw another sea turtle! seriously the highlight of the trip for me because I wasn't expecting to see another one.

amazing snorkeling!

After snorkeling we ate dinner at a local place and we all had chicken platter specials and it was great!  2 pieces of chicken, macaroni pie, salad, and rice for $15ec!
Then we headed back to the Green Roof Inn to clean up and prepare for the 3:30 ferry to take us back to Grenada.
This time we took a much larger ferry and it was such a smooth enjoyable ride.  I could travel like this all the time.

arriving back in the carenage of home sweet Grenada.

I'm also going to do a post of how much stuff cost, who to contact and such, so it'll be a little easier for any of you who are planning your own trip to Carriacou or the Tobago Cays!
seriously. go. tomorrow.

♥ Tobago Cays!!

I love love love love loved the Tobago Cays.
by far one of the most beautiful, beach destinations I have ever been.

Don't get me wrong, Grenada is fabulous, but whoa it's incredible there.
another trip to St. Vincent? YES PLEASE!!

I'm in the process of figuring out how to get Lee and I up there this summer.  I want to share it with him so badly!

Once we landed on Union Island we were wisked away on a jetty to the Tobago Cays.
First stop was Jamesby Island.
a small rock basically sticking up in the ocean with one of the most pristine white sand beaches and lovely palm trees... and lots of HUGE iguanas!

 coming around Jamesby
fresh barracuda delivered to us on the beach :)
 clearest water you can imagine.

ancient ruins? or a bored sailor?
next we headed to that tiny island off in the distance.  Petit Tabac.

to be continued...

It's a pirate's life for me

my goal for this post is less words more pictures.

Today was so much fun!
The SOs went on a Pirate Ship Cruise complete with costumes, a plank, rope swing, cannons, and an open bar (where I drank my weight in sprite and guava juice :)
even my LEE got to go!!!
We had tons of fun being pirates and it was great to spend some time together outside of our house socializing with friends.
Port Louis - in my dollar store hat :)
preparing to plunder
Lee was EXCELLENT at the rope swing
my sweet, beautiful husband.
I have a feeling that he is going to be like George Clooney, just keep getting better with age, he keeps getting better looking, and I'll be going in the opposite direction. oy

Melon-headed whales!!!

Saturday morning about 30 SOs ventured out on a whale/dolphin watching tour... and while we didn't see any dolphins, we all thought we did!  We instead saw melon-headed whales... they look a lot like dolphins swimming through the water, but have well, melon shaped heads instead of snouts like dolphins.
It was so much fun & I'm so happy I got to go, it was my FIRST time out of a boat in the ocean I realized the day before we went!! I had just never thought about it much until someone asked me if I got sea sick.... and I was like I don't know... I've never been on the sea!!  So thankfully my friend Sarah gave me some dramamine to take just incase & I didn't get sea sick at all :)

awesome picture also from Sarah Dhillon!
with the price of the tour drinks and sandwiches were provided... however, if you drink Carib beer you get an entire bottle at a time & if you drink Coke or Sprite you get this miniature cup amount.  I made roughly 100 trips to the bar for all the pop I could drink! lol
lunch - tuna or cheese spread sandwiches...
the first time around I turned it down
the 2nd  time I was so hungry I ate this and didn't hate it.
